Education is the process of helping students in learning and getting knowledge, information, skills, values and good manners. Education should not be applied by only presenting information or knowledge as a one piece thing, it should rather be applied by developing minds that can think critically.
First of all, education aims to develop the knowledge, skills, or character of students. Nowadays, it is the ultimate gateway to success. Success occurs when a person has knowledge and certain skills. These two factors are gained by education. In addition, a truly educated person will be feeling more comfort in life compared to an uneducated one. He will also be more open to all aspects of life and utilize it properly. Therefore, education is the most important factor in the development of societies since it forms good citizens and eliminates poverty and ignorance.
Secondly, the methods of education in my philosophy are the following:
Narration: Education should begin first by presenting the target topic (title and a few general ideas), and ask if someone of the students has any idea or what they know about it.
Discussion: Then after listening to each one, I’d start to narrate the lesson idea by idea and at the same time make discussion about any new idea, especially if there were controversial topics. Meanwhile, if a student has an opposite opinion, he or she has the right to be respected.
Teaching: At the same time when there's “general truth” information that has to be delivered, it should be transmitted as it is. The teacher is responsible for enlightening his learners with the truth.
Experience: At this point, students must experience the knowledge they have gained. It happens by asking them questions about the lesson or giving them exercises to solve for example.
In the third place, the curriculum must adhere to the learners background and the content I will present, so these too must meet at some point.
Finally, the teacher’s role and the students' role must complete each other. The teacher should be an important agent in the education process but not the only agent. A teacher must be the simulator of thoughts, brain, mind and critical thinking of the learners. Therefore, learners should enjoy the learning process as a lifetime process and not only as a recipient.
In my opinion, education should focus on individuals' freedom to choose their own purpose in life and not what is common in society. It should help students understand and appreciate themselves as unique individuals whether they loved science, math or art…
